The South African Weather Services says thunderstorms across Gatueng are expected to clear by this evening - as the system moves into Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Parts of Gauteng are experiencing thunderstorms and isolated showers, while residents of the West Rand and in the south of the province woke up to hard rain on this morning.
South African Weather Services (SAWS) forecaster, Luthando Masimini, says 10 -15 mm of rain is expected.
"We are expecting the thunderstorms to start clearing as they move to the eastern parts of Gauteng.
"For the rest of the day, we are expecting isolated showers for the whole of Gauteng," says Masimini.
He says there may be early morning rain in the eastern parts of Mpumalanga on Sunday, but that is also expected to clear by mid-morning.
