Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya told SABC News after the SONA debate on Tuesday that the delegation will also include members of the Government of National Unity (GNU).

South Africa will be sending an envoy to the United States to address escalating diplomatic tensions between the two nations.

The friction intensified following American President Donald Trump's criticism of South Africa's Expropriation Act and his subsequent offer of refugee status to Afrikaners.

Furthermore, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused South Africa of "anti-Americanism" and declined to attend a G20 meeting to be held in Johannesburg next week.

Magwenya says the envoy aims to address these concerns and reaffirm South Africa’s position.

"It will reflect the diversity of our country and the Government of National Unity, including ministers from various sectors.

“The delegation will also include representatives from business and other social partners.

“The aim is to engage with global capitals, including the United States, to articulate South Africa’s position on the G20, our theme, and our objectives.

In the U.S., discussions will extend beyond the G20 to address the key issues currently shaping the relationship between our two countries."
