SANEF to engage SABC over Sakina Kamwendo drama
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The South African National Editors' Forum (SANEF) will engage the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) over its treatment of presenter Sakina Kamwendo.

Kamwendo was pulled off-air on Friday, halfway through her morning show.
According to the SANEF, the show's producers were instructed to fill the rest of the time with music.
It is alleged that management was unhappy over Kamwendo's decision to air her views on the line-up change and the perceived lack of consultation.

SANEF's Sam Mkokeli believes the situation was poorly handled by the SABC.
"Kamwendo should have been given the space to explain to her listeners what was happening as regards the end of her show." he says. "Limiting Kamwendo's freedom of expression in this blatant manner is a serious issue and SANEF would not want to see a return to the SABC's days of censorship. We will be engaging the SABC and station management on the matter."
