Satawu not part of any security strike
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu) has distanced itself from a voice note doing the rounds on social media of an alleged security strike.
In the voice note, a man can be heard saying that security guards will be shutting down all airports, shopping malls and train stations on Thursday, 2 November.
Satawu spokesperson Zanele Sabele says the union has nothing to do with any such action.
"We want no part of it and are not part of the strike that is planned for tomorrow. It sounds violent, xenophobic and purely criminal", says Sabele.

Satawu has been inundated with phone calls from their members who have expressed concerns over their safety at work.
"By yesterday afternoon we were getting calls, they were worried because the voice notes says people would be killed if they reported for work", adds Sabele.
Satawu will be engaging with employers over the voice note, to ensure their workers will not be intimidated or victimized.
They have also encouraged their members to do the same.
