SAWS: Wet weather set to continue until Sunday

The South African Weather Service has warned South Africans to brace for heavy rains up until the weekend.

The predicted downpours come amid weeks of wet weather in parts of the country.
Forecaster Ishmeal Moyo said the widespread heavy rain will persist over the eastern parts of the country until Sunday.
"For today (Wednesday), we have a 30 to 60 per cent chance of rain expected in the east and in the south-eastern parts, including the central interior areas, but we also have an 80% chance of rain in the Free State, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal.
"We have a Yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive rainfall in most parts in the east; we also have an orange Level 5 warning for disruptive rainfall for the KZN coastal areas and the adjacent areas ".
Moyo added that more rainfall is expected throughout the week.
"On Thursday, we are expecting isolated rainfall over parts of Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KZN and North West with no warnings that have been issued so far.
"Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Northern Cape with the possibility of severe thunderstorms. On Sunday, Isolated showers can be expected in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West and KZN.”
