Search for lion in Hennops trail to be scaled down
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The search for a lion spotted near the Hennops trial this week is to be scaled down.
The big cat was spotted by residents in the early hours of Wednesday morning near the R511; however, it is still unclear where the lion escaped from.
Arthur Crewe from Strategic Response Rescue Unit (SRU) says they will scale down on the search on Thursday night.
"We had the help of a helicopter this morning, we are still busy with drones and ground search, but we still have a few places to look at and we are going to slow down until new information comes in though,” says Crewe.
"The problem is it is a very big area of bush and mountains; it is going to be a while before someone spots it again unless it comes back to the main road itself. We have received a lot of information, but it has all been negative,” he adds.
