Police in KwaZulu-Natal have bolstered security ahead of the annual Durban July racehorse competition.
The event is Africa’s biggest horseracing affair, attracting thousands of visitors annually.
The Durban July will be hosted at the Greyville Racecourse on Saturday.
"Police officers and other personnel will be deployed in and around the racetrack as well as around the city to tackle the problems which might disrupt the event," said police spokesperson Carmen Rhynes.
"The spectators and horse racing fans must behave themselves and enjoy the entertainment. All people attending the Durban July need to protect their valuables while at the race course.
"Those are indulging in alcohol must be dropped off and picked up or alternatively use available modes of public transport. Those who will be found drinking and driving will be arrested."
