The Rand Water executive killed in Monday's shooting in Zakarriya Park, south of Johannesburg, has been named as Teboho Joala.
The entity's chief shared services officer was one of two people killed at a back-to-school event organised by Rand Water.
Three people, including Johannesburg’s chief whip of council, Sithembiso Zungu, were wounded in the attack.

Joala is a former spokesperson for the ANC’s Greater Tshwane region.
The party’s regional secretary, George Matjila, has called on the government and law enforcement to bring the killers to book.
"This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive levels of crime that continue to plague our beloved South Africa. The ANC Greater Tshwane region cannot and will not accept a reality in which the lives of our fellow citizens are taken away senselessly and with impunity."
Gauteng police are searching for an unknown number of assailants.
"It is reported that an unknown number of suspects entered the hall where there was a donation function and started shooting before fleeing the scene with an unknown white vehicle,” said spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.
The motive for the shooting is still unknown.
