The goods smuggled from Indonesia were recovered on Thursday at a warehouse suspected of storing illicit goods in Musina town.

Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba says the police acted on intelligence, which led them to an unoccupied warehouse.

"During the operation, the following items were recovered: Over 300 boxes of Adidas sneakers and soccer boots, confirmed to be part of a consignment stolen from Durban Harbour on 13 March 2025," he says.

"These items were originally imported from Indonesia before being unlawfully diverted. Additionally, 100 boxes of illicit cigarettes, with an estimated street value of R600,000, were seized."

Preliminary investigations linked the warehouse to a well-known businessman in Musina.

Mashaba says police are actively pursuing leads to locate and arrest the suspect.
