'The Simpsons' town built from lego

A man has painstakingly recreated the Simpsons' hometown of Springfield from Lego.

Matt De Lanoy, from Woodridge, Illinois, spent hundreds of hours piecing together the iconic locations from the long-running cartoon.

His work sees familiar buildings and places from the show in block form, including Moe's Tavern, the Kwik-e-Mart, Krusty Burger, the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and, of course, the houses of Ned Flanders and the Simpsons.

Details include Homer Simpson ably manning his post at the plant, while Bart Simpson is poised to saw off the statue head of town founder Jebediah Springfield.

To reproduce the town, the "30-plus" graphic artist says he used a "mix of visuals" from sources including the TV show, film and The Simpsons: Tapped Out phone game.

Mr De Lanoy says: "One of the big features of my Springfield layout is the power plant. It is really a sprawling complex of equipment, but once I had the towers and the office building planned out there was little room for anything else.

"I did what I could to make it seem reasonable, though. I'll probably give this whole office building a working over in the future, but for now I wanted to make sure I got Homer's 'office' in."
