A child and an adult died, three people were critically injured, and 13 others sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious in a collision between a truck and a taxi on the R512 in the Renosterspruit area in Gauteng on Saturday.
“ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on [the] scene and found patients scattered all over,” ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.
“The taxi was lying on its side alongside of the road. The truck was found on the side of the road. Sadly there was nothing that could be done for the child and one adult. They had succumbed to their injuries on [the] scene.”
The ER24 medical helicopter and another private medical helicopter airlifted two critically injured patients to hospital.
All other patients were treated and transported to various local hospitals for further medical care. The cause of the collision was unknown and authorities were on the scene to investigate, Bodasing said.
