Two people were killed and four others injured in a gas explosion at Zodwa Special School in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria.
The explosion hit the school in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said the container classrooms collapsed during the subsequent fire.
"A badly burnt and charred body of a male person was discovered during firefighting operations, and a second body of which the gender could not be determined was later discovered as operations continued.
"Four other patients were transported by ambulance to Kalafong Hospital before the arrival of the Tshwane Emergency Services on the scene".
