Union suspends Metrobus strike
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Democratic Municipal and Allied Workers Union of South Africa (Demawusa) has suspended its strike at Johannesburg Metrobus.

Demawusa's spokesperson Dion Makhura says Metrobus workersaffiliated to the union are expected back to work on Wednesday.
He adds the strike was suspended after a meeting with the workers and the union's realisation that they are fighting a battle beyond their workforce.
This comes after a meeting with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), where the City of Johannesburg proposed to withdraw the union from operating in the city.
"We realised we would rather suspend the strike, prepare ourselves around the city of Johannesburg where we want to make sure every employee of the city joins Demawusa so that we become stronger. We realise the city is fighting us, the mayor is fighting us, nobody wants us," says Makhura.
