Cosatu has confirmed in an interview with Jacanews that the woman who lodged a sexual harassment complaint against General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi has withdrawn her grievance.
Cosatu says they welcome how the process unfolded and that they will be issuing a statement in due course concerning the rumours flying around on the issue.
A woman who claimed she had been raped by Zwelinzima Vavi has withdrawn her "grievance", the Cosatu general secretary tweeted on Monday.
Vavi said the woman withdrew the claim just two hours into an internal disciplinary hearing.
"Thanks to so many who supported my family" Vavi tweeted.
He later tweeted: "“ won't do interviews on the statement - tired - spending afternoon with my family."
Vavi has admitted to having sex with the woman, who was employed by Cosatu, and claimed she later tried to extort R2m from him.
He denied raping her, and said the sex was consensual.
However, she brought a complaint of sexual harassment against him.
The woman said earlier on Monday that she was not in a position to talk about the hearing.
"I am not going to talk about it [the hearing] for now, I cannot answer any of your questions," she said.
