[WATCH] At least 3 killed in horror N1 crash
A collision involving nine cars and two trucks claimed the lives of at least three people on the N1 near the Pumulani Toll Plaza on Friday.
Fire engulfed some of the vehicles following the massive collision caused by obscured visibility due to a nearby veld fire.
Netcare spokesperson Shawn Herbst says the three victims all burnt to death.
"Local authorities are on the scene and are trying to retrieve the bodies from a car that went under a truck."
Tshwane metro police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says seven people were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals.
Motorist have been warned to approach with caution as both the N1 North and N1 South have been completely closed to traffic.
