WATCH: Protesters block Allendale in Midrand
Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Xolani Fihla has urged motorists to use alternative routes amid Friday morning's protests.
It is believed that the community is angry over prolonged water outages in the area.
This has led to a group taking to the streets and barricarded roads with burning tires.
Affected roads included the Westbound of Allendale Road at Kynoch Road.
Fihla has urged motorists to excerise caution.
"The reports of protest action in Klipfontein View in Midrand with the westbound of Allendale Road being barricaded off with burning tires at Kynoch Road. Officers have been dispatched and this is affecting traffic from coming from Tembisa travelling towards Waterfall City."
