Weekend load shedding pushed to stages 3 & 4
Eskom on Friday announced the implementation of stages 3 and 4 of rolling blackouts over the weekend.
This after the utility had implemented stages 1 and 2 since Tuesday.
Stage 3 would be implemented from 4pm on Friday until 4pm on Saturday.
Eskom's acting spokesperson Aubrey Sambo says the escalation in blackouts was due to the shutdown of six generating units as well as the delay in returning three generating units to service.
"This will be followed by stage 3 load shedding from 5am on Saturday until 4pm, when stage 4 load shedding will be implemented. This pattern of stage 3 load shedding from 5am to 4pm and stage 4 load shedding from 4pm to 5am will continue until Sunday when Eskom will share a further update for the week ahead."
