Wits suspends student registration
Updated | By Suné du Toit
The University of Witwatersrand has officially suspended the physical registration process for Monday and Tuesday.

Students protesting under the banner of the Fees Must Fall campaign and disrupted proceedings demanding free education.
Protesting students occupied the Senate House calling for historical debt to be scrapped and for registration fees to be done away with.
The students also demanded that academic records be made available across the board, so those who still have oustanding debt could get access to their grades.
Management at the institution said the call is legitimate, but unrealistic at this time.
Spokesperson Shirona Patel said registration and enrolment could still be done online.
"We are encouraging all students to make use of the online and telephonic systems that will be put in place for Monday and Tuesday. Physical registration will resume on Wednesday morning," she said.
Students have vowed to continue their action.
