All Blacks won't just defend

All Black assistant coach Ian Foster says they have no intention of just defending for 80 minutes to try and stop the Springboks from scoring four tries at Ellis Park on Saturday.

 

New Zealand will win the Rugby Championship if they prevent South Africa from claiming a four-try bonus point win, but Foster says they will keep playing their normal attacking game.

 

"We're in any case not a team that enjoys defending for 80 minutes," he told the Beeld website.

 

"We will definitely not deviate from our normal playing style. We came here to attack and score tries if opportunities arise."

 

The All Blacks' last Test at Ellis Park was a 40-26 loss in 2004 - and the New Zealanders have won only three of their 11 Tests at the ground since 1928.  

 

They tend to struggle at times due to the high altitude, but Foster said it won't deter them from having a go at the Boks.

 

They did after all win 32-16 on the Highveld last year when they overturned a 16-12 half-time deficit to beat the Boks at the FNB Stadium in Soweto.
