"His professionalism to the game over a number of years has allowed him to play at the highest level and we believe that he will be a good fit to Maritzburg United going forward.
"Born and bred in Pietermaritzburg , his career is an example to any aspiring youngster and I'm sure that the club will benefit from his new position" concluded Kadodia.
Bartman is set to attain his coaching badges to comply with his new role and expressed his delight at securing a job so soon after retiring from his professional career.
"It's a great privilege to be appointed as the goalkeeper coach of a PSL team coming straight out of playing and I hope I will be able to bring my experience having worked under some very good goalkeeping coaches during my playing career, including Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker," he said.
"I see this as the first step in my future career.
"I'm really looking forward to working alongside Ernst and the rest of the Maritzburg United team."
Bartman was awarded as the best goalkeeper in the Telkom Knockout tournament in 2010.
