Beckham's son handed United trial

Manchester United are reportedly considering offering David Beckham's son Brooklyn a place in their academy.

 

United's coaching staff have been running the rule over the 14-year-old, according to The Guardian. Brooklyn was in the LA Galaxy academy during Beckham's stint in Major League Soccer. Brooklyn also played in Queens Park Rangers' junior set-up this year.

 

Beckham took his son to United's training ground in Carrington on Thursday with more sessions planned.

 

Beckham made 400 appearances for United, winning six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League. He himself came up through the United academy, breaking into Sir Alex Ferguson's first-team alongside Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and the Neville brothers.

 

Earlier this year, Beckham discussed the possibility of one of his sons following in his footsteps.

 

"As a parent, you always worry: 'Have they got the hunger that I had as a kid?'" he said. "I'm as hard on my boys as my dad was. They always ask: 'Did I play well?' I'll say: 'You did all right, could have done better.'"
