According to Die Burger's website, Bakkies Botha will replace Eben Etzebeth at lock to form a partnership with Flip van der Merwe, while there will also be two changes in the front row.
Gurthrö Steenkamp is expected to be named at loosehead prop in place of Tendai "Beast" Mtawarira and Adriaan Strauss at hooker in place of Bismarck du Plessis.
Among the backs, Willie le Roux is likely to start at fullback, with Patrick Lambie shifting to flyhalf in place of Morné Steyn who is struggling with a back injury and is not likely to be risked.
Skipper Jean de Villiers missed Wednesday's training session due to a slight cold, while flank Willem Alberts was also used sparingly as he is struggling with a slight shoulder injury. Both are expected to face Scotland though.
Bok coach Heyneke Meyer will name his side later on Thursday.
Kick-off at Murrayfield is as 17:00 (SA time) on Sunday.
