Bottom club Cape Town Spurs stun Orlando Pirates

Cape Town Spurs stunned Orlando Pirates 2-1 on Wednesday in the biggest upset so far of the South African Premiership season.

All the goals came in the first half with Namibian Lubeni Haukongo and Jarrod Moroole giving the home side a two-goal advantage before Evidence Makgopa halved the deficit as half-time approached.
Promoted Spurs had lost all eight previous matches on their return to the elite league while star-studded Pirates finished runners-up to Mamelodi Sundowns last season.
Spurs remained bottom after the win at the Cape Town Stadium, but reduced the gap behind second-last Richards Bay to three points.
A disastrous run by Pirates, in which they have taken just two points from a possible 12, left them 13th and 15 points behind pacesetters Sundowns.
"We have played better and lost," said Sean Connor, who was put in charge of Spurs after the sacking of coach Shaun Bartlett following seven straight defeats.
"The boys showed grit and determination and beating a club of the stature of Pirates will boost confidence."
Meanwhile, Bradley Grobler became the joint leading Premiership scorer this season with six goals after snatching the winner for second-placed SuperSport United in a 3-2 victory at TS Galaxy.
