Boyd Allen, the undisputed number one contender in the EFC AFRICA featherweight division, will fight for the belt at his next outing.

The title became vacant this morning with the announcement that Demarte Pena, the undefeated former champion, has relinquished the title and will drop a weight division rather than face his friend and teammate, Allen.

Boyd Allen is regarded by many as the most dangerous athlete among the featherweights. He demolished all comers, smashing Alain Ilunga in two rounds and Wesley Hawkey in one, top opponents that Pena took four and five rounds respectively to beat.

Allen is undefeated in the EFC AFRICA hexagon, and has finished in all but one of his six appearances (Nzirawa, EFC AFRICA 12).

With the road to the title now open, the division is about to experience a massive shakeup and the dawn of a new champion’s era.

“I can’t wait to fight for the title,” said Allen on hearing the news. “For me every fight is an opportunity to test and sharpen my skills. The added pressure of a title fight is what I want, what I train for every day.”

An opponent for Allen is yet to be announced.
