Themba Zwane, who earned his 50th cap received a special South African shirt from SAFA president, Danny Jordaan.

He said in a post-match interview that it was a “special” day in Nelson Mandela, having been with the team for 10 years.

Zwane also praised coach, Hugo Broos, saying for the past few years Bafana Bafana had been struggling, but now they have put a team together that is doing well.

Meanwhile, the coach said he was happy after a “performance like this”, noting Tuesday’s return fixture in Brazzaville is “another match” saying they are trying to achieve six out of six wins and return from Congo with a “qualification.”

Teboho Mokoena opened the scoring for the home side at a packed stadium in the 12th minute and then followed it up with a second in the 27th minute before Batusi Aubass got the third just ahead of the break.
