Cameron bags another gold in Moscow

There was no stopping Cameron van der Burgh in the 100m breaststroke, as he led the race from start to finish, banking the gold medal in an Olympic A Qualification time of 59.27. The USA’s Nic Fink and Cody Miller rounded off the medal podium in 59.52 and 1:00.07 respectively.
In the 100m butterfly, Chad le Clos was in the lead at the half way mark, touching the wall in a fast 24.30, but slowed down for a second place finish with an Olympic A Qualification time of 51.45. The USA’s Tom Shields and Tim Phillips walked away with the gold and bronze in 51.36 and 51.75 respectively.
Myles Brown grabbed the silver medal in the 200m freestyle with a close 1:47.80, just 0.17 under the Olympic A Qualification requirement of 1:47.97.
The gold in the event went to Russia’s Danila Izotov in 1:46.93, while the bronze was claimed by Nikita Lobintsev, also from Russia, in 1:47.83.
Van der Burgh, Le Clos and Brown will now head for the second leg of the FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup in Paris-Chartres, France from 15th to 16th August.
The remaining legs of the World Cup will be held as follows:
- September 25-26 - Hong Kong (HKG)
- September 29-30 - Beijing (CHN)
- October 3-4 - Singapore (SIN)
- October 28-29 - Tokyo (JPN)
- November 2-3 - Doha (QAT)
- November 6-7 - Dubai (UAE)
