Catrakilis signs for Harlequins
Updated | By AFP
Montpellier's South African fly-half Demetri Catrakilis has signed to play for English Premiership rugby side Harlequins next season, the London club said Tuesday.
Harlequins are looking for a long-term successor for veteran former All Blacks playmaker Nick Evans who has been central to Quins' success since 2008, but is now aged 36.
The 27-year-old Catrakilis joined Montpellier in January 2015 and helped the southern outfit to the French Top 14 semi-finals last season.
"I am very grateful for the opportunities I have received so far in my career to play for quality teams and I am very excited to continue on this trend next year with a prestigious club like Harlequins," said Catrakilis, who also has Super Rugby experience with the Southern Kings and the Stormers.
"For the present however I am focused on doing one better than last year for Montpellier and very much determined to give my all for the club and the fans before I join Harlequins."
Quins already have Tim Swiel and Ruaridh Jackson on their books, and Catrakilis' arrival will further boost their fly-half options.
