Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs on Monday announced the sacking of its head coach, Cavin Johnson, following a poor 2023/2024 season.
Johnson took over from former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki in September after a disappointing start to the league season.
The Phefeni Boys finished in tenth position in the 2023/24 season, its lowest position yet.
In a statement on Monday, Amakhosi said Johnson’s departure is part of a restructuring ahead of the new season.
"Kaizer Chiefs have agreed to an amicable parting of ways with the head of the academy, Cavin Johnson.
"The departure is part of the restructuring process that the club is undertaking. We wish to thank Mr Johnson for his contribution to Kaizer Chiefs and wish him well in the future.”
Chiefs are expected to appoint 58-year-old Tunisian Nasreddine Nabi as its new coach, with the club saying it will make an announcement “soon”.
