Orlando Pirates have confirmed that midfielder Andile Jali and defender Happy Jele are out Sunday’s CAF Champions League Final second leg against Al Ahly.
As reported by the Siya crew earlier, the duo collected yellow cards in the first leg at Orlando Stadium this past weekend, in the game that ended in a 1-1 draw.
There was then confusion on whether or not they are suspended for the second leg, but Pirates have since confirmed through their official website that they have received communication from CAF informing them about the duo’s suspension.
The statement on the club's official website read:
"Andile Jali and Happy Jele are out of the final of the CAF Champions League against Al Ahly on Sunday.
"Both players will be serving their respective suspensions after receiving their second bookings in the first leg against the Egyptian giants over the weekend.
"Communication from CAF reads:
"Player no. 04 Happy Queenton Jele received two cautions in two different matches namely match no. 124 and match no. 125
"Player no. 15 Andile Ernest Jali received two cautions in two different matches namely match no. 122 and match no. 125
"THEREFORE BOTH PLAYERS ARE AUTOMATICALLY SUSPENDED FOR THE SECOND LEG FINAL OF CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, MATCH NO. 126 AL AHLY (EGYPT) VS ORLANDO PIRATES (SOUTH AFRICA)."
