Jantjies hasn't been found guilty of anything - Nienaber
Updated | By MORGAN PIEK
The Springboks are backing the flyhalf Elton Jantjies following the flight incident a few weeks ago.
The World Cup-winning Springbok pivot is facing charges of malicious injury to property and the contravention of the Aviation Act after being arrested in Johannesburg last month.
Jantjies is currently in the 17-member Springbok camp in Pretoria preparing for the upcoming series against Wales.
Springbok coach, Jacques Nienaber, said they will deal with the matter if he is found guilty.
“The allegations against Elton happened when he wasn't in camp,” said Nienaber.
“He wasn't in the Springbok camp at that stage. We will treat it as more information about the alleged incident comes to light.
“We just see it as he hasn't been found guilty of anything to my knowledge.
“We will treat it like that. He must be proven guilty of something.”
Jantjies has made two appearances in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court since the alleged incident took place and the matter has postponed until 17 June.
The Springboks tackle Wales on 2 July at Loftus Versfeld in the first Test.
