Jantjies admitted that he had taken the banned substance in August last year, but denied that he had knowingly taken the substance.
The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) confirmed the ban this week which could spell the end of the 33-year-old's career.
Speaking to Rugby365 a spokesperson for Jantjies said that they will be appealing the ban.
“Elton would prefer not to engage with the media,” the spokesperson said.
“His legal team are working on the case/appeal.
“Yes, he is aware of the sanction.”
However, according to CEO of SAIDS Khalid Gelant, also told Rugby365 that the ban will be upheld.
"The ban is four years,” Gelant revealed to Rugby365.
“The window period for an appeal has lapsed, so the four-year ban stands.”
