Dolphins batsman Kevin Pietersen is way out in front as the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge leading scorer with a phenomenal 305 runs from four knocks.
The former England international has scored two centuries and a 68 in his last three matches for an average of 152, and at an even more impressive strike-rate of 173.
The form of the 35-year-old which has yielded 305 runs has been key to the KwaZulu-Natal outfit making an unbeaten start to the competition from four matches. The Dolphins, out in front, have 16 points and eight more than the second-placed Titans.
Pietersen with his exploits has notched up the fastest century (45 balls) with his 115 not out from 66 balls he smashed against the Lions on November 4. Also among the records Pietersen holds in the competition is the most sixes with a total of 21, number two on the list is Albie Morkel of the Titans way behind on eight.
With one game remaining for Pietersen before he fulfils his five-match contract with the Dolphins, the all-time leading run-scorer for England could end up returning a batting average that may not be topped for the rest of the competition.
Testament to the strength of the Dolphins batting line-up in the competition, the big-hitting David Miller occupies second place on the averages. The Proteas left-hander averages 109, having being dismissed just once in three innings. With a top score of 62 unbeaten he achieved in his side’s first match of the competition, Miller boasts a strike-rate of 181.
On the bowling side, Proteas spinner Aaron Phangiso has the best bowling average of 6.28. In 11 overs that he bowled for the third-placed Highveld Lions, Phangiso claimed seven wickets and conceded just 44 runs.
Next on the list is Cape Cobras fast bowler Dane Paterson who has taken six wickets to return an average of 12.
