Late goal brings Stellenbosch back into contention

Devon Titus scored on 89 minutes to give the visitors their first Group B points after losses away to Stade Malien of Mali and at home to two-time title-holders Renaissance Berkane of Morocco.

Stellenbosch will host Lunda Sul in January and another victory for the club from the South African rugby union hotbed would boost chances of a top-two finish and a last-eight place.

Meanwhile, Nigerian club Enyimba crashed to a 3-0 away defeat against Black Bulls of Mozambique in Maputo, leaving them bottom of Group D.

Rume Akporoh scored the only goal of the first half for group-stage debutants Bulls and Fidel de Sousa and Ayuba Abubakar netted early in the second half for the home side.

Kibu Denis was the two-goal star as Simba of Tanzania recovered from conceding a third-minute goal to edge record three-time Confederation Cup winners CS Sfaxien of Tunisia 2-1 in Dar es Salaam.

Hazem Hassen put the visitors ahead only for Denis to level four minutes later in a Group A showdown.

There were no further goals until the ninth minute of added time when Denis struck again to give Simba a second victory in three outings.

Orapa United of Botswana featured in a second 0-0 Group C draw at home in Francistown within eight days, this time against Jaraaf from Senegal.

The Confederation Cup is the African equivalent of the UEFA Europa League.
