Local hero wins Comrades

Local hero Bongmusa Mthembu has claimed victory in a time of 5:35:34 at the Comrades Marathon 'up-run' from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.
He takes home R425 000 for the win and will also earn bonus prize money as the first South African and first KwaZulu-Natal athlete across the finish line.
That should take his earnings to well over R500 000.
Zimbabwean Hatiwande Nyamande took second in a time of 5:38:48, while former champion Gift Kelehe was third in 5:41:48.
American Camille Herron claimed victory in the women's race in a time of 6:27:35.
Russia's Alexandra Morozova was four minutes behind in second place with defending champion Charne Bosman the first South African home another 8 minutes back.
In her post race interview with the SABC, Herron said she thought she'd crossed the finish line when she entered the stadium, only to be told by a passing male runner that she still had a few 100 metres to go.
"I thought I had crossed the finish line! There's a mat back there. I was just enjoying the moments and they told me I hadn't crossed the actual finish line. I had to get myself going," says Herron.
