Maritzburg United part ways with Eric Tinkler
Updated | By Karabo Tebele
DSTV Premiership side Maritzburg United have parted ways with head coach Eric Tinkler after terminating his contract with immediate effect.
Tinkler was shown the door after a poor start to the season by The Team of Choice.
United are bottom of the table and have not won in 11 matches with their last victory coming in March when they beat Polokwane City 1-0 at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
The team also bowed out of the MTN8 tournament at the quarter-final stage at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs.
“It has been an extremely disappointing start to the season and the results have not been forthcoming,” says Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia.
“The board, therefore, took the decision to terminate the contract of the coach. We would like to wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
The club says it will make an announcement on a new coach in due course.
