Molefi Ntseki fired as Bafana Bafana coach
Updated | By Karabo Tebele
Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki has been axed after failing to qualify for the Africa Cup on Nations.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) CEO Tebogo Motlanthe made the announcement in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
Molefi parted ways with the national team after they once again failed to qualify for African football’s showpiece.
Bafana Bafana lost 2-0 to Sudan in their final qualifier in Khartoum on Sunday.
Motlanthe said SAFA’s national executive committee agreed that it’s time for Ntseki to be relieved of his role as coach.
"There are still administrative issues which need to be attended to, so one will just say in terms of the NEC resolutions, they have resolved to part ways with the coach and all admin things that have to do with legal are still outstanding."
A new coach will be announced next week.
"What is going to happen here is that Mr Maluleke and his committee will give us direction and we hope that we will reconvene next week to give you the process which will unfold going there but I think they were mindful of that,” said Motlanthe.
