Briefing media on Monday morning, Khoza announced the creation of the DSTV Compact Cup.

“There is a need for us to come up with something very interesting and it is going to happen this January from the 22nd until 29th of January,” he said.

Khoza explained that fans will be allowed to create their own PSL dream team by selecting their favourite PSL players to create a combined regional team.

“The competition will be made up of four matches involving players from all 16 top-flight clubs during the mid-season break.

“Supporters will choose what combination they think is best. There will be a data base that divides the players via position,” said Khoza.

The teams are divided into 4 regions, with fans asked to select from 4 teams in each region:

Coastal 1 consists of Golden Arrows, AmaZulu, Royal AM and Maritzburg

Coastal 2 consists of Chippa United, Cape Town City, Stellenbosch and Baroka FC

Inland 1 consists of Kazier Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Moroka Swallows and TS Galaxy

Inland 2 consists of Mamelodi Sundowns, Super Sport United, Marumo Gallants and Sekhukhune United

“Supporters will get to choose their favourite players from a pool of teams to play in one team,” added Khoza.

Each team's squad of 26 players will be made up of eight defenders, four midfielders and four forwards in a matchday squad, with the winner walking away with R1 million.
