Nigeria edge Bafana Bafana to reach Cup of Nations semis
Updated | By AFP
William Troost-Ekong's late winner sent Nigeria through to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday after a tense 2-1 victory over South Africa in Cairo.
Samuel Chukwueze put Nigeria ahead in the first half before Bongani Zungu levelled on 70 minutes with a looping header, awarded after a VAR review, but Troost-Ekong struck a minute from time at a corner to set up a last-four meeting with Algeria or Ivory Coast.
I am personally proud of @BafanaBafana - thank you boys for showing South Africa we can fight. We’ve come far from my famous speech I won’t on this occasion recall.

Congratulations to the Super Eagles on a well-deserved victory over South Africa, tonight. You represent the resilient and indomitable Nigerian spirit. Two more victories, and the coveted Trophy will come home to us. All Nigerians are looking forward eagerly.
