Orlando Pirates will be looking to redeem themselves when they meet Mpumalanga Black Aces in the Telkom Knockout match at Mbombela Stadium tonight.
Pirates lost 3-1 to Platinum Stars in a penalty shootout in the MTN8 final recently and the Buccaneers will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways at the expense of Aces tonight.
Pirates defender Thabo Matlaba, however, believes that Bucs will have to be at their best to beat Aces.
“Aces have already shown this season that they cannot be taken lightly, when they came close to causing an upset against Chiefs, so we can’t afford to underestimate them,” Matlaba told the Siya crew.
“We need to show Aces some respect but, at the same time, we need to go there and do the business on the day. The MTN8 is gone and there are only two cups left now, so we need to go all out to win this one,” added Matlaba.
Meanwhile, Matlaba said Pirates are not worried about coming up against their former players, Onyekachi Okonkwo, Clifford Ngobeni and Mark Mayambela.
“We don’t care if Aces have former Pirates players. Our only focus is to beat Aces and progress to the last eight of the Telkom Knockout. We need to focus on our game plan and make sure that we win, that’s all,” concluded Matlaba
