PSL hail Pirates for Confed Cup effort
Updated | By Trevor Cramer
The PSL club marched to the last four phase of the Confederations Cup thanks to their gallant display this past weekend at the Orlando Stadium where they beat Congolese side, AC Leopards 2-0 in what was a polished performance on Saturday night. This took them a step closer to reaching the Confederations Cup final.
"Orlando Pirates have done the PSL and the country proud during their CAF Confederations Cup campaign," De Villiers said.
"We would like to congratulate their chairman, management, coaching staff under Eric Tinkler, the players and supporters for this great achievement.
"Of course there is still work to do in the semis by the players, but we also need to celebrate this moment and applaud their tenacity."
The PSL CEO added: "As the League, we have always backed our clubs to do well in continental championships because the experience gained benefits not only them but also the country. We have to rally behind them to go all the way."
