Rich praise for GG matchmaker Rasodi
Updated | By ANA
Veteran boxing promoter Rodney Berman is to pay a special tribute to his matchmaker Ruben Rasodi, who has been behind the success story that is Golden Gloves.

Rasodi is a long-time employee who has put together more undercards than anyone else. He constantly trawls through the gyms, identifying talent and putting together the fights that so often define a tournament.
“He’s an unsung hero of local boxing,” says Berman. “I tell Ruben what we need and he puts it together, it’s as simple as that. His knowledge and instinct is astounding.”
This is why Berman’s announcement that Rasodi will be honoured on December 1 is so encouraging. The tournament (“The Rematch”) will be dedicated to the stalwart of the local fight game.
“He’s right up there with Maurice Toweel as one of the best ever,” Berman continued. “They shared a great passion and knowledge for boxing.”
The tournament, at Emperors Palace, is headlined by the intriguing rematch between Johnny Muller and Kevin Lerera. Still six weeks to go, it has nonetheless captured the imagination with fans of both camps making their views strongly felt on social media and elsewhere.
Not forgetting the chief undercard bout, which pitches Paul Kamanga against Roman Zhailauov at welterweight.
As ever, the rest of the card will have Rasodi’s fingerprints all over it.
