SA batsmen dominate ODI rankings
Updated | By ANA
There are four South African batsmen in the latest ICC One Day International (ODI) rankings which were released over the weekend.
Proteas ODI captain AB de Villiers leads the rankings in first position with 900 points, way ahead of India’s Virat Kohli in second on 804 points.
Hashim Amla is fifth on 776 points, while Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock are tied in tenth spot on 715 points. Amla, however, is slipping down the list after a poor series against India where he scored just 89 runs in the five matches for an average of under 18. Amla is some way off his best-ever points tally of 901 he achieved in 2012.
On the bowling front, the Proteas also have three bowlers in the top 10. Spinner Imran Tahir is the top-ranked South African at fifth place with 688 points. Proteas spearhead Dale Steyn is close behind in sixth place while Morne Morkel is further down in eighth position.
In the team rankings, South Africa hold third place on 112 points following their 3-2 series win over India on their home turf. India are just ahead in second place with 114 points, while Australia are some way ahead at the summit of the rankings with 127 points. - ANA
