SA soccer team to face Brazil Police
Updated | By ANA
The South African Men’s Olympic team has secured a practice match against the Brazilian Police Department in Brasilia on Friday, at Minas Tenis Clube (kickoff 10am , 3pm SA time).
This is part of South Africa’s preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil starting next week.
Head Coach of the Lotto-funded Men’s Olympic Team, Owen Da Gama, believes that they will be able to reach their objectives with the practise match.
“We would have loved to play another country, and we did try to arrange with other countries, however, they were not available. We also made enquiries with local clubs but nothing came of it,” said Da Gama.
“We will play the police team in order to accomplish our objectives, which are, to firstly assist the players in getting the feel of the high tempo, and, secondly, to acclimatise to the conditions of a real match situation.”
