SAFA given permission to engage Baxter
Updated | By Trevor Cramer
SuperSport United has given their permission for SAFA to engage Stuart Baxter with a view to becoming the new head coach of Bafana Bafana.

But the Pretoria-based club made it quite clear that no matter what transpires, Baxter is to remain at SuperSport United until the end of the current PSL season.
A statement released by club CEO Stan Matthews read: "If negotiations between SAFA and Mr Baxter are successful, and SuperSport United and SAFA agree on an early termination of Mr. Baxter's current contract, such appointment would only be effective at the end of the current PSL season, officially commencing 1 July 2017.
If he is appointed, it would be his second stint in charge of the country's national team.
The popular Englishman had a stint with Bafana Bafana between 2004 and 2005, but left the job after the South Africans failed to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
He has since gained vast club experience and won two Absa Premiership titles, two Nedbank Cup trophies and an MTN8 title at the helm of Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United.
