Schools to benefit from Momentum ODC
Updated | By Jacasport
Cricket South Africa (CSA) together with the title sponsors, Momentum, have come up with an exciting idea for this season’s Momentum One-Day Cup.
A new and innovative concept will see cricket Schools and Clubs around the country benefit directly from the sale of the limited overs domestic One-Day competition tickets.
For every ticket purchased for a Momentum One-Day Cup match on www.ticketpro.co.za, the purchaser can nominate a cricket school or club who will then receive 50% share of the value of the ticket.
“We are quite excited with this concept as we now turn our attention to finding new ways to fund schools and club cricket. At the same time we want crowd attendance at our domestic competitions to increase,” explained CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat.
“Our research shows that there is scope to improve on stadium attendances and we know there is a ready audience in our schools and clubs environment.”
“Sharing gate income directly with schools and clubs must be a good way to fund grass roots cricket development while improving spectator attendances at our domestic matches,” added Lorgat.
Momentum Head of Brand, Danie van den Bergh, welcomed this wonderful initiative.
“This is a chance for youngsters to lead the way by encouraging their Moms, Dads and families to enjoy time together,” he commented. “With schools and clubs in line to get real benefit, this is an innovative way to involve families and schools in developing the game and at the same time, to bring families out to enjoy great cricket action”, added Van den Bergh.
The 50% contribution to schools and clubs is only valid for the Momentum One Day Cup and for tickets purchased via www.ticketpro.co.za.
