Stitch-up error forces Wallabies shirt change
Updated | By AFP
A bizarre stitching mix-up has forced Wallabies loose forwards Jack Dempsey and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto to wear each other's number in Saturday's World Cup match in Oita against Uruguay.
Back-rower Dempsey will play in the six jersey and flanker Salakaia-Loto will wear eight.
A team spokesman said the error was the result of a "mix-up with the local embroidery" business.
Salakaia-Loto is eight centimetres (inches) taller than Dempsey and a straight jersey swap was not possible.
The Wallabies were also forced into a late player change with Samu Kerevi promoted to the bench after replacement centre James O'Connor withdrew with a thigh injury.
