South Africa romped to a 2-0 series win with a resounding nine-wicket victory at the Bullring. That followed a victory off the last ball of the match in the first T20 at Newlands in Cape Town on Friday.
But it was the performances of Tahir, commonly referred to as the Proteas ‘secret weapon’, with 5/46 in his eight overs in the two matches which was the difference. In the first match Tahir claimed career best figures of 4-21 as England were limited to 134/8. And though South Africa had difficulty in chasing down that score, Tahir was instrumental in that victory for the Proteas.
Abbott, meanwhile, took 2/31 and 3/26 opening the bowling for the Proteas.
Among the England ranks, Chris Jordan was the leading wicket-taker with 3/71 over the two contests.
With the bat, Hashim Amla topped the charts with 91 runs, with a highest score of 69 unbeaten in South Africa’s successful run chase in Johannesburg.
Jos Buttler scored the most runs for England, with 86 including the 56 he achieved in the second T20I.
