Tribute to Joost's life on iPad app

He's widely regarded as one of South Africa's best rugby players ever - and now YOU and their sister magazine Huisgenoot are paying tribute to Joost van der Westhuizen in a special iPad app about his life.

 

The enriched digital magazine in five chapters provides gripping reading material, video grabs and more than 500 photos, plus all the articles about the legendary scrumhalf that have appeared in YOU and Huisgenoot over the years. It's a nostalgic journey back through time.

 

Joost was just 22 when he made his rugby breakthrough, and now his battle against motor neurone disease (MND) is an inspiration. This app gives fans a comprehensive look at the ups and downs of the former Bok's life.

 

Pictures include his childhood, his days as a young player, his marriage to and divorce from high school sweetheart Marlene Terblanche, his later marriage to Amor Vittone, and how their family life unfolded.

 

The app also revisits the dark period when a sex video brought Joost to his knees, the road he and Amor walked and now his life with MND. As he puts it: it's the most important match of his life. It also looks at his J9 Foundation, which helps other MND sufferers.
