In an issue she had raised in August already, Viljoen has this time confronted the Minister directly asking what had become of her R70 000 Olympic bonus dished out by the Department of Sport and Recreation for her silver medal in the women's javelin at the Rio Olympic Games.

Her first port of call this time, however, was on the mobile phone messaging service WhatsApp, where she lodged a polite request to the Minister enquiring as to when she could expect the long overdue payment.

"You may criticize me for venting my frustrations on social media, but I'm left with no choice. Millions will be wasted on the Sports Awards," read Viljoen's latest tweet.

"Any further interviews will not help me in any way. Just pay us what you promised. That's all. Don't make a promise you can't keep."

It is uncertain whether the other athletes who qualified for the additional bonuses, including the country's Paralympic medallists, have been paid yet.

Mamelodi Sundowns have also been promised a R700 000 bonus by the Minister on his Department's behalf for capturing the prestigious CAF African Champions League title against Egyptian giants Zamalek.
