Ikemeleng Youth Centre is a youth centre that runs a holiday school during the school holidays for the children in the community where the children are cared for and receive a meal each day. Rooival Sonskynhoekie in Pretoria is a poor white settlement in need of some care.
Jacaranda FM celebrates Nelson Mandela's legacy ahead of Mandela Day by kicking off a year long initiative, Project Khanya (light). Today is just day one of our plan to light up the future for the children of SA. From next week, Jacaranda FM will be visiting schools and handing out the Consol Solar Jars.
About Project Khanya
Jacaranda together with Consol Glass are embarking on a project to light up homes in poverty stricken areas within the entire Jacaranda FM footprint by supplying homes with Consol solar jars. Full details of campaign will be rolled out soon but on the Complimentary Breakfast show this morning and, heralding to Rian’s plea for a solar jar supplier, Consol Glass came on board with a donation of R750 000.00 worth of Consol solar jars.
The Jacaranda FM team alongside, Rian van Heerden, will be handing out these Consol solar jars to children in underprivileged communities. Full details of campaign are currently being championed by supporting teams at the station – listen out to the Complimentary breakfast on Monday morning for more!
In true Jacaranda FM listener spirit, we have had an overwhelming response from listeners to already get involved. Stay tuned for opportunities in helping us distribute these jars and identifying communities in need of them. In the meantime though, a mere R100 donation or more will allow us to add to the distribution of Consol solar jars across South Africa.
